Do this to improve your throwing.
If you are struggling with making the shape you want.
If your coning up and down is wobbly.
If clay is bossing you around.
If repeating similar shapes is challenging.
To sort out majority of these issues do this.
Figure out what it is you are looking at when you throwing.
Where is your focus?
Most people say my hands, or middle of the pot, when I ask them this question.
Neither one of those is helping you.
Your hands will do what they need to do even if you don’t look at them.
Middle of the pot is not doing anything exciting either, so stop looking at it.
Instead, focus on the wall of your pot.
Look at outside shape of your pot.
And when I say look, I mean make it straight, or make it the shape you want it to make, don’t just look at it.
Looking at it makes you see immediately if your wall is getting pushed out, or pushed in and you can react and course correct on the spot, before it gets too far out of hand.
