Refining functional pottery surfaces

Refining functional pottery surfaces

One of the most common features in making ceramics everyone tries to achieve is a smooth surface.

If you start thinking about it after your pots are bisque fired, that’s too late.

Sanding the imperfections takes hours, and it is bad for you and everyone around you to breath that dust.

We always send people outdoors with sandpaper and a mask on, to do sanding if they really have to.

Oooooor! You can skip the whole need to sand anything at all if you spend a minute with a sponge smoothing and cleaning your surfaces right after trimming.

This way they come out of bisque firing silky smooth… :-)
